Train Dispatchers check that the train is ready to leave the station at the correct time. 

Before the train leaves they must make sure that all passengers are on board the train and check that all the train doors are securely shut.

They indicate to the driver that the train is ready to leave and then signal with a large ‘paddle’ to the train drivers to start the train.
